Dual board certified as both a pediatrician and a dermatologist, Dr. Levine is uniquely qualified to treat the entire family. As a skilled physician and a mother of five children, Dr. Levine is highly attuned to both the physical and emotional needs of her young patients. Recognizing that many children may be anxious about the social and emotional aspects of their condition, in addition to their physical concerns, Dr. Levine has built a child-focused practice designed to create a supportive, caring, and stress-free atmosphere for her pediatric patients. Featuring a wide variety of child-friendly “touches” — such as special pediatric anesthesia methods, colorful bandages, stickers, toys, and prizes — Dr. Levine’s office is a comforting haven for children with skin disorders.
Dr. Levine performs outpatient surgery and procedures for both adults and children in our state-of-the-art, in-office operating suite, which is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). Additionally, she is one of only a few dermatologists who hold hospital surgical privileges, allowing her to perform pediatric dermatologic surgery at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in those cases when a hospital setting is recommended or preferred.
With extensive knowledge of the most advanced technologies and techniques in the pediatric dermatology field, Dr. Jody Alpert Levine is frequently quoted by national magazines, newspapers, and television programs. She has been recognized yearly as a New York Times Magazine "Super Doctor." A well-respected industry expert, Dr. Levine has served on the medical advisory board of Johnson & Johnson and continues to be a medical advisor for Parents magazine. She has served as a consultant to Dial, Algenist, Eucerin®, and Cetaphil®. She is currently the brand dermatologist for Gillette® Venus® razors and the US dermatologist Ambassador for Mustela®, as well as a luminary for Sciton and Cynosure® lasers. Dr. Levine has also written scholarly papers in prestigious medical journals, including Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Journal of the American Medical Association.
Dr. Levine’s educational background is exceptional. She is a graduate of Columbia College, where she earned a 4.0 GPA and the distinctions of Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. She received her M.D. at the Yale School of Medicine, graduating with honors. Dr. Levine completed her pediatric residency at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, followed by a residency in Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Prior to co-founding Plastic Surgery & Dermatology of NYC, Dr. Levine worked in private practice in Manhattan, was the Medical Director of a Medi-Spa, and served as Head of Pediatric Dermatology at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. Currently, Dr. Levine is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, where she teaches a pediatric clinic. She also serves as an Associate Adjunct Surgeon at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Active in a wide variety of industry organizations, Dr. Levine is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the Women’s Dermatologic Society, the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, and the American Medical Association.
